Gentle
Georgia Mae
The soundtrack to your climate change anxiety; an ode to mother earth and a gentle reminder to look after her
Why I wrote this song
Writing this song was therapy! I’d been wanting to express my anxiety about the impacts of climate change on mother earth for so long, but could never really find the right words to put in a pop song.
By taking a more light-hearted personal approach to an intimidating subject, asking the listener to please “be a bit more gentle”, I was able to open up the space to make something fun, masking my desperate message with a few cute guitar licks.
About me as an artist
Since her early days as a lyrical prodigy in Lismore, music has taken Georgia Mae to Brisbane where she studied at the Queensland Conservatorium of Music and was nominated for the state’s ‘Most Promising Female Songwriter’ and ‘Best Female Pop Artist’ at the Queensland Music Awards in 2016.
It’s also taken her overseas; to Los Angeles where she landed a role as a writer and recording artist on television shows including Keeping Up With The Kardashians, to San Francisco where she worked in sound design at the illustrious Skywalker Sound. Georgia now works as a Music Editor at Warner Bros. Studios in Los Angeles as she continues to sculpt her sound.
About the music video
Gentle colours, gentle shots and gentle materials meld together with delicate flowers on the face, butterflies touching the fingers – an ode to the art of being ‘gentle’!
