Vessel
SheisArjuna
An exploration of using one’s voice as a vessel for change
Why I wrote this song
The song was inspired by climate change and my role as an artist to bring attention to environmental issues through music. It is about being a vessel for positive change; I care deeply about protecting biodiversity and feel it is so important to offer these messages through palatable, mainstream music in order to have a wider impact.
As a Conservation and Wildlife Biology graduate, I’m passionate on a personal level to reduce my environmental footprint as much as possible. We each have a role in ensuring we can continue on as a species. Music has been a beautiful way to share my message and my passions.
About me as an artist
I am Shan Curry, known professionally as SheisArjuna, an independent solo artist from regional Victoria. I released my debut album, ‘The Age of Convenience’, in November 2021, exploring the themes of environmental, socio-political and mental health issues.
I am committed to sharing music with a conscious message that inspires people to reflect on their perspectives.
About the music video
The video for Vessel was filmed on the Barwon Estuary in my father-in-law’s sailboat. We dragged an old piano out to the bush and just played around amongst nature. The video was shot to highlight the beauty of the natural world; no bells and whistles, just nature – the very thing we need to nurture and protect.
The environmental organisations I admire or support
Greenpeace, Landcare Victoria, Bush Heritage Australia, PETA, Sea Shepherd
