If Not Now Then When

King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard

A rhetorical warped groove into post-eco apocalypse – if not now, then when do we act?

Why we wrote this song

I’ve written quite a few songs about climate change, but after the black summer bushfires in 2019-2020, shit started to feel dire. It still feels dire – more dire.

We need actual, real, tangible action from our leaders, otherwise what are they there for? Why are we not doing everything we humanly can to right our wrongs? When we’re literally on fire, why not now? If not now, then when? – Stu Mackenzie

About us as artists

Formed in Melbourne, Australia in 2010 as a 7-piece psych rock band King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard are an evolving myth to be discovered. Known for their iconic live shows, prolific output and exploratory approach to making music – on the face of it, King Gizzard’s ethos has become synonymous with exponential change.

Prognostic sci-fi psychedelia to modular dance; the Gizzard double helix is shared between every song, record and live show and has connected a global community of dedicated fans.

King Gizzard’s music links concepts, characters and environments and explores themes of climate change, futurism and a myriad of alternate realities.
