Reflects our musical beginnings, reminding us to take risks and challenge ourselves.
Why we wrote this song
‘On The Way’ explores our musical origins, offering both a retrospective look and a forward-facing reminder to take risks and challenge ourselves. It encapsulates our journey, reminding us to remain open to new challenges and opportunities. As we navigate the ever-changing landscape of our artistic endeavours, the song serves as a guiding light, urging us to venture into uncharted territories with courage and determination. In our artistic pursuits, nature serves as a source of solace and inspiration. Whether it’s the gentle sway of trees or the rhythmic crash of ocean waves, connecting with the natural world renews our creativity. It’s a reminder of the harmony beyond human experiences, urging us to cherish and preserve the wonders of the earth.
About us as artists
An Aussie indie folk group built around the talents of singer/songwriters Ryan Henderson and Matt Carins, Hollow Coves’ employ a rich amalgam of reflective lyrics, dynamic harmonies, and earthy melodies.
Founded in 2013 in Brisbane with mutual friends Henderson and Carins’ shared love of travel and acoustic music, the project came to fruition in 2017 with the release of the single “The Woods.” Later that year Hollow Coves inked a deal with Nettwerk and issued their debut EP, Wanderlust, which earned comparisons to contemporaries like Angus & Julia Stone, Ben Howard, and Paper Kites. Two years later the group returned with their nostalgia-laden first full-length effort Moments, which was produced by Chris Bond (Ben Howard, Justin Nozuka, Xavier Rudd).

About the music video
The music video was first inspired after connecting with our good friend Braedin Toth, a photographer/videographer based in Canada. We really loved his work and thought it aligned well with our theme for this song. Ryan had a few calls with Braedin to flesh out the clip. We really wanted to showcase and capture the journey of someone trying to find their feet and slowly tick off the dreams they’ve always wanted.
We thought that having a music video all about reaching those beautiful destinations would also inspire people to take one step towards whatever goals they have.
