Worldwide Suicide

In Hearts Wake

Ecocide is Suicide

Why we wrote this song

Worldwide Suicide’s message of “ecocide is suicide” is a call for positive action now. The track’s bold intro section features a sample Taylor made of Greta Thunberg’s address at the Climate Strike in NYC in 2019.

Ecocide is basically any harmful human activity that violates environmental integrity and balance — like damaging or destroying an ecosystem and harming the health and well-being of a species. Incredibly, there is still no internationally enforceable law to protect the Earth.

Ecocide Law would do that and force governments and corporations to be fully accountable for ecocide crimes. We are totally dependent on the Earth and its inter-dependent ecosystems for our survival. To harm any part of it, is to harm ourselves. We are now in a climate and ecological emergency. We can’t change anything if we ignore what’s happening or turn away from it in fear or overwhelm.

About us as artists

In Hearts Wake are a mighty band on an urgent mission. Long time champions of the earth, the band have received four top-5 records, an ARIA nomination for Best Hard Rock album, 110 million digital streams, and over 100,000 records sold worldwide.

Their fiercely loyal following has been forged from their relentless world–touring ethic, passionate ecological advocacy and hard-hitting, melodic-driven music. Each of the band’s albums are themed around the natural elements that make life here possible. Earthwalker explored the element of Earth, Skydancer — Air, Ark — Water.

It is uncanny that their 2020 record KALIYUGA, would be born of Fire, was inspired and bookended by the devastating fires that occurred in California and Australia throughout 2018 and 2019.

Besides their recording and manufacturing process — which the band have totally carbon offset — In Hearts Wake break boundaries sonically, by braiding diverse styles together in service to a wide-ranging scope of songs and performances. This is infectious and inspiring conscious heavy music for these times.
